Pee Wee

My father passed away almost five years ago but one of his legacies has always been his dogs. He has two of them that are still living, Pee Wee and Bear.

Pee Wee is about 16 or 17 years old. To be honest, I think most of my family members have lost track of how old he is. This dog refuses to pass away peacefully and "give up the ghost". I can honestly say I have never seen a dog with a will to live like this dog has got.

I went to pick up my Mom the other night and I had to pick Pee Wee up and place him on the ground outside so he could do his business. As soon as I placed him on the ground, he just tottered right over and gently rolled over on his back. He struggled mightily to get on his feet and with a gentle push from me, he finally made it to his feet. He continually walked in a small circle on legs that could barely support him for the next five minutes until I gently picked him back up and took him in the house and placed him in his bed.

He can't see any more and I doubt he can hear either but his will to live is second to none. I know it would be better if we put him down but you can't help but admire the fighting spirit in this dog.
