The Medieval Dog

The Medieval Dog was primarily used for hunting game although certain dogs, such as the mastiff, were allowed in the castle to double as guard dogs. There were varying breeds, many similar to the breeds that we have today. The hunting dogs, according to Wikipedia, lived in their kennel in the castle and had their own attendant to take care of them. The needs of the dog were addressed promptly and maybe this is where Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker got the idea for an air conditioned dog house.
