Ticks In January

I found two ticks on Molly this morning and it is in the middle of January in the mountains of Western North Carolina. I was really surprised and if they are appearing already then it is going to be a long flea and tick season. I don't think we have had a long enough sustained cold spell in order to kill them off from last season. Molly and I enjoy our walks in the woods. This time of year that is usually the last thing we have to worry about is the creepy crawlers. I had to pull the one off Molly with a pair of tweezers and I was surprised she let me do it without too much complaint. This one was entrenched and took a little bit of effort (and a little bit of a bald spot on Molly) to pull this one off. The hair will grow back, at least that is what I keep telling Molly.
