A Good Pile Of Leaves

When I was a kid, my neighborhood friends would never let a good pile of leaves go to waste. My father and I had an unwritten agreement that I had at least two days to play in the leaves before he burned them off. My friends and I would build leaf forts and have acorn fights, we would wrestle in a big pile of leaves, and we would invent other athletic contests to have in the neighborhood leaf pile. One of my favorite games we invented was a game we called "Fumble" in which we would get a football, bounce it into the pile of leaves, and the mad scramble for the ball would ensue. Since my house had the most trees and the most leaves, that leaf pile was in my yard. Since Molly and I live in an apartment now, I never expected to see a pile of leaves in one of the side yards and I was even more surprised when Molly did not let that leaf pile go to waste. As soon as she saw it, she headed straight for it and plowed right thru it and a wrestling match spontaneously erupted. We ended up calling it a draw even though Molly should have been disqualifed for fighting dirty. There was some biting, pulling hair, and a few low punches but I pulled out the flying double butt kick to salvage the draw. Molly somehow manages to pull out the best memories from me.
