Honey is my next door neighbors Boxer. She is beautiful and probably the sweetest, most even-tempered dog I have ever been around. There are alot of stray dogs that seem to make their way to my neighborhood and any time they do, Honey makes friends with all of them. Five minutes after I see a stray dog trotting through my backyard, they'll be in my neighbors yard playing with Honey. They'll be romping and ripping through the backyard like a couple of kids after school. She is definitely not an Alpha dog.
A couple of afternoons ago I am sitting in my computer room and I look out the window and I see Honey trot by, squat in my yard right in front of my porch, and take a dump. She then trots off to her yard. Why she felt the urge to do that, I do not know, but I do know Molly will return the favor.
Karma exists even in the dog kingdom. Yesterday afternoon I am sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather, writing in my journal, and Molly is sitting beside me. I hear a loud hiss, instantaneously followed by the sound of Honey yelping. It was like a surprised shriek. I look up and a beautiful, gray-colored cat and Honey are squared off in the street in front of my house. I should say that the cat was squared off and Honey was busy backing off. The cat was bowed up, eyes wide, and mouth still open hissing a warning to Honey. Honey is slowly backing up, with a surprised look on her face like "What did I do?"
I couldn't help but laugh and they overheard me and both shot me a glance. The cat walked off and went on about her business and Honey slowly made her way up to me after taking one to the chops. She hardly ever lets me pet her but after the run-in with the cat, Honey needed a little TLC.
Honey let me give her several pats on the back, assuage her ego a little bit, and she sauntered on off to lick her wounds. Molly thought it was funny but not happy that I was petting her.
